FAQs

  • If you have an injury then physiotherapy is for you, particularly if it is the result of an accident.

Many injuries that are not accident-related can still be treated by us.

If you have a medical condition, feel free to discuss with us whether Physiotherapy may be helpful for you too.

  • No.

A Doctors referral is not required to see our physiotherapists. Just make an appointment and come in and see us at one of our clinics.

If your injury is caused by an accident we can supply ACC paperwork for you to complete and we will submit this to ACC on your behalf.

  • Physiotherapists have the ability to refer patients for x-rays.

We can also refer patients for ultrasound scanning if needed too.

  • An initial assessment and treatment will take 40 minutes. This is spent with the physiotherapist assessing your condition and then implementing treatment.

Follow up treatments will consist of a 20 minute treatment session with the physiotherapist.

  • Upon arriving to your appointment, you should expect to have our team perform a thorough physical assessment, as well as asking plenty of questions surrounding your injury, and perhaps previous injuries or medical conditions that might influence the way we treat.

For many injuries, it is likely that there will be a good amount of focus on your level of pain, strength, and movement. With this in mind, please wear appropriate clothing that will allow us to view the injury, and examine around the area.

Often there is an exercise based component to our treatment plans, so ideally, the clothing that you do wear is loose fitting, or stretches with movement.

As good as we are, sometimes we don't provide definitive answers to your injuries at the first appointment. You may be referred for imaging, to get a clearer idea of things, or we speak with your GP or other medical professionals as well.

Lastly, you should expect a clear treatment plan that you understand. There will likely be some exercises for you to continue with at home, some suggestions to modifying working activities, or education on how to management you pain.

  • In New Zealand, we are lucky enough to have subsidized medical treatment through ACC if we have an accident related injury. The key here is that treatment is subsidized, not free.

While some physiotherapy clinics claim that treatment is free, what they are actually saying is that ACC funds their treatment, and they elect not too charge their patients.

At PhysioAction, we feel the need to charge per treatment for a number of reasons.

    • So we can fund new equipment in our treatment rooms and gym that our patients will benefit from

    • So our staff are remunerated well and we avoid high staff turn over

    • To be able to have prominent locations that are easily accessible

While we aren't looking to make healthcare unaffordable, we are wanting to continue to provide a quality service and a better experience
