Brief History

PhysioACTION Limited‚ formerly Glenfield Physiotherapy‚ is an accredited physiotherapy practice which has been in operation since the 1970s. Since 1984 the business has been directed by Richard Hoskin.

PhysioACTION is a Limited Company providing services through Glenfield PhysioACTION, Birkenhead PhysioACTION, Glenfield Accident & Medical PhysioACTION,‚ Panmure PhysioACTION and several Secondary Schools including Westlake Boys High School‚ Kelston Girls College‚ Kelston Boys High School‚ St. Kentigerns College‚ Massey High School‚ Northcote College, Birkenhead College, Edgewater College, Auckland Girls Grammar and Glenfield College.

Clients

The PhysioACTION Limited clinics have a clientele of more than fifty-five thousand. The age range of those treated is five to ninety years‚ and the gender ratio is consistent with national averages. Most clients fall into the working and secondary school age-groups.

All members of the public may have immediate and direct contact with the PhysioACTION clinics. In recent years Statutory regulation has enabled physiotherapists to offer a primary contact service. This means that clients insured with the Accident Compensation Corporation and private patients can come to our clinics without being referred. The simplified regulations enable the physiotherapist to refer clients elsewhere as required. Though many clients may come to PhysioACTION without referral‚ many come for treatment having been informally referred by parents‚ friends‚ teachers or coaches.

Staff

The fifteen physiotherapists working in PhysioACTION are supported by an administration staff of seven. All the physiotherapists involved in treatment are skilled in the management of all musculoskeletal conditions whether the onset be on the sport’s field‚ traffic accidents‚ at work‚ or at home.

Operation

PhysioACTION Limited operates five days a week‚ and depending on the demand on Saturdays. In the Secondary Schools we operate during the school terms‚ but make every effort to offer treatment at our clinics during the holidays. We believe that it is a huge benefit that physiotherapy treatment is available for clients immediately‚ and it is for this reason that PhysioACTION has adopted the principle of making itself available in schools and on sport’s grounds.

Under ACC‚ there is no charge‚ surcharge or co-payment for assessment and treatment. However‚ should equipment‚ such as braces or supports be requested then the normal charges would apply. If strapping is required for sports on an ongoing basis‚ then there may be a nominal charge.

PhysioACTION Limited‚ and therefore the services it operates‚ is an Accredited Practice registered with the NZ Physiotherapy Accreditation Council which is in turn recognised by Accident Compensation‚ NZ Society of Physiotherapists‚ NZ Manipulative Therapists Association‚ and the NZ Private Physiotherapist Association. PhysioACTION operates with a high level of therapeutic expertise‚ and is regulated by strict policies and procedures.
